It's really interesting when you watch gymnasts recreate other gymnasts moves. The idea being the first person is so talented that it's deceptively easy for the commoner. There are many things like this discuss

oooh, gymnastics discussion. fun.

when you say gymnasts recreating other gymnasts moves, do you mean a casual, non-elite gymnast/viewer trying to emulate stuff they see in the olympics? or do you mean someone like simone biles creating a new skill and another elite gymnast putting it in their routine? (i havent had any caffeine yet today, words r hard)

I mean a good gymnast (like former professional) recreating a move or ruitine.

I'm getting off on the ash Watson Niles whoever things rn.

Some Chinese chick will fling from the high bar to the low bar and spin around on her belly like it's nbd so the average viewer will not really notice. Then they recreate it and fly off into the wall or something. It's really enjoyable

so you guys like watching a clumsy bear of a man try to perform moves originally done by graceful gymnasts?

Yes, very much.

He's a fat bear but used to be competitive, so he can actually technicallt do the skills. There's a whole team of these guys if he's not your type

huh, i see. and yes agreed that he is very talented, to be clear i couldn't do any of that stuff. it just seems like he is leaning in to the clown/buffoon/big guy trying to be graceful.

so part of the appeal is that your'e impressed by his masculinity? and his ability to sort of switch types and perform elegance despite being a big bear of a man

The fat buffoon who can just chilly do a standing layout backflip is 180 imo. These guys doing girl skills is what makes it enjoyable. He's not doing an iron cross on rings he does random uneven bar shit that you have to be 40 pounds to hit so he just fails and everyone lols including him

I see that.

That's what I'm talking about itt though is when they are so good that it doesn't look that hard. Really cool.

I feel like the parallel bars showcase a little more struggle

yeah, that UB routine is incredibly difficult. to an untrained eye its not that easy to tell, but basically every single skill in that entire routine is extremely difficult and directly connected to another difficult skill. in most UB routines the gymnasts alternate difficult skills with easier skills to keep the flow going. but that routine is just crazy difficult the whole way through: there are no empty swings for power, dead hangs with slow handstands, easy filler skills that get her from skill a to skill b, etc. its just crazy shit the whole way through and she makes it look soooo easy

yes, parallel bars are definitely a bit more grunty and heaving and you can tell some of the men are really struggling. im sure you love that :P

YUP thats one of the best parts of the routine. She does the release, twists and catches it in a mixed grip and then transitions to low bar and immediately back up to high bar. Its crazy.
