kinda seems like "mass platform" social media might rapidly collapse for many people under ~40 as we move into the AI era
young people seem to be wising up that everything on the internet is completely fake, and AI is going to make this ridiculously in-your-face blatant
i think new forms of exclusive, localized social media are going to spring up. like you can't join or log on unless your device is within a certain geographic area. who knows, maybe this already exists, and i'm just Old so i'm unaware of it
but i just don't see social media continuing as it currently exists. it doesn't actually benefit anyone (except big tech, big capital, etc). sure, the brown lower classes and mystery meats will probably keep using it, along with third worlders. but kids are actually increasingly savvy and self-aware about Online's negative effects and i think the middle and upper classes are going to move away from it
