It’s great overall. A bit annoyingly expensive to maintain.

And we’ve had one (1) break-in over 15 years. It was to my in-laws place while they were traveling, making it look like their house was empty for months. No car in the driveway. No lights on at night. We’ve since added cameras, timer lights, and an alarm system (including driveway alarm). Aggravatingly nothing of value was taken because there’s no jewelry or firearms at their house, which is clearly all the thieves were looking for. So all the expense of a broken picture window for nothing. The thieves were later arrested for a string of break-ins during summer beach season. They were illegals who worked on a landscaping crew so they knew which houses were empty.

Send those fuckers back to Chile and shit. I have just bought 6 hectares on elevated land.

How much of the natural environment did you clear out?

We pieced together our little family compound over time. It’s three properties and houses summing to a bit over 20 acres. I was first, then we added my parents next door, then my brother a few years later. But because of all of this there are largish suburban yards carved out with moderate forested set-backs from the road and between each house.

I’ve also got a ROFR with the curmudgeonly neighbor to buy his ~50 acres when he’s ready to sell. Trying to make this into a permanent home base for all my kids.

So you aren't living there currently? Whats the climate and terrain like there? It storms HARD here in the summer so I will need to work on the slope especially in the goat enclosure.

It's 400 metres from the turnabout to Maudsland and another 5 minutes into Oxenford/Hope Island, so no. Thats what makes Guanaba so 180.
