You heard me right, those lizards who live in the southwest US in Mexico. Gila monsters only eat twice a year because they have incredibly slow digestion. Mad scientists at Novo Nordisk isolated and synthesized the substance that causes Gila monsters to starve themselves. I just can’t with these freaking scary lizard people isolating a drug from actual scary lizards.
People who take these drugs develop an abnormal number of extra fat cells. Predictively, when they try to go off the drug, the fat cells become problematic.
And I’m not even speaking to the irreparable damage GLP drugs do to the digestive system, the brain, and heaven knows what else.
Gross.
