Well, there’s the covenant that if one follows and obeys God, you will experience divine grace. Then there’s submission and obedience and complete faith in God’s will, over and above your own will. And of course in this relationship, Man also has the ability to plea for mercy and understanding, where God is willing to consider the input of mere mortals. And Abraham is flawed throughout, showing that God is loving(ish) and will make room for human failings, which are also in part God’s failings.
It establishes faith as a partnership, between a divine father and devoted servant.
