The main takeaway from the last 5 years is that Americans will bitch plenty about high prices but not bother to get off their lazy asses and cook something instead of ordering DoorDash or eating out and they are not desperate enough to stop buying cheap foreign made goods even as Gen Z has repurposed used clothing retail to find new ways to pay for expensive designer brands and collectors items. We are very far from people spending $10 a week to feed a family of four with 5 lbs of rice and beans and a whole chicken. Another reason rents are so high is that cities became unlivable. No one talks about this because it's about cracking down on urban crime which Dems consider racist.
Safe cities used to be a wonderful place for young people to thrive and build up their savings for cheap. Now you have to avoid large swaths of evil urban area. It's destroying value for young people. |

There are tons of super wealthy urban areas. The problem is they're a small percentage of the total urban area. The problem is too much thunderdome. There will always be people trying to gentrify any cheap neighborhood that's on the come up because it's such an efficient use of land. |
