many people are already de facto dead and "outside of time" when they can no longer hold out under the "empire of necessity" and find themselves forced into having children

People perceive time to go faster and faster the older they get, look it up. It’s a known phenomenon. You’re almost dead already as far as you are concerned. If you are 40 years old or so, you probably have 20% of your perceived lifespan remaining.

It’s just a matter of percentages. Every year represents a little less percent of your time on the planet. For an 8-year-old, four years is literally half of her life. For a balding lawyer it’s barely a blip.

True story. I was just thinking about a job that I applied for with a company (they never called me back). Anyway, I looked up in my email when I had been emailing with them and it was 7 years ago. It did not seem that far away, but it was.

There are a handful of mainstream academics (physicists) who argue that time (including humans’ perception of it) is actually speeding up. There’s surprisingly some solid evidence to support it but it’s an untestable theory so far.

I've been working my sinecure for 3 years now and want to die

I remember every moment of my 1 year at Skadden as an M&A associate

dropping my phone down the stairs of my mfh shoebox walkup

smelling like shit in my $900 italian suit
