generally take culinary/cooking knowledge pretty seriously so this may be embarrassing to admit but like, 99% of the time you’re saving 2 seconds of salting? is the product really that intrinsically different than just adding salt after the fact to justify the inflexibility of salted for recipe purposes…?

salted butter is objectively better tasting than unsalted but not suitable for baking, which is the only reason unsalted exists, you don't want to be spreading butter on toast then salt it, just wouldn't taste right

that said I just buy unsalted because the only thing I ever spread it on is cornbread and in cooking you're right, you can just add salt

I had a pretty solid cooking phase, I would make no claims to being great but I have the basics down and have watched a lot of youtube vidoes to get inspiration before going to the store, which I do almost everyday so dinner isn't some bullshit I promised myself I'd want last week, cooking decently is the cheapest and easiest upgrade you can get in life and I actually feel sorry for doods that are using doordash to feed themselves

it is, if you mashed your butter up with salt then spread it you would get the same effect but you aren't doing that and you know why that's worse

Salted butter doesn't go rancid as quickly as unsalted, that's the only advantage

i (perhaps faggily) use olive oil for 90% of the things people might use butter for, but salted butter is great for toast, sandwiches, and other things where you aren't mixing things together along with salt

olive oil is 180 but when you are using it instead of butter you're just making an entirely different dish, you aren't using it for at all the same thing really
