There are two branched off paths of the same Abrahamic originated religious code in contention in the Israel/Palestine conflict, and I suspect that this was a major understated factor in the overarching flare-ups between these two parties
The strictly religious/spiritual factors don't get examined by American observers to the same extent that the political and social ones do, and this inscrutability makes it more difficult for Israel to make its case to Americans and Europeans
