It’s a female mentality, that the world is organized by “turns.” cf. Hillary

Yeah the Gen Xer should try to schedule a meeting on Outlook with the board of directors to do his sales pitch on and get no response

Or he should change jobs for at 4.875% raise 30 times like a millennial lol

We kept getting told this by boomers. The boomer who ran my team in biglaw still tells the younger partners (all gen x) to “wait around, I’m gonna leave in two years and you’ll inherit a couple million in business apiece”. To my credit, I always knew that was bullshit and left 3 years ago. They’re all still there waiting.

How do you see this playing out? Boomer dies at his desk after gratuitously milking the client relationships in his last years, clients are pissed off and go elsewhere?

How does someone get to the c-suite and still think they can “wait their turn” to be CEO? That’s a terrible strategy even for low-level promotions.

Because he came home to an Empty House

If anything, Empty Houses/latchkey Scum have only increased since the 70s/80s but we associate that sort of thing with Gen X socioeconomically and we associate millennials with being chauffeured around to extracurriculars so that they can ace OCI in 10 years. Gen X was the last Gen where white proles had a semblance of a “place” in the culture. Discuss.
