GREAT REPLACEMENT UPDATE:
New Zealand Europeans dropped to 55.9% of the population at the 2023 Census according to Stats NZ’s data explorer tool, which was released today.
New Zealand’s ethnic composition in 2023 was as follows:
European 55.9% Maori 7.3% Maori/Euro hybrid 8.2% Asian 15.7% Pacific 5.5% Other/mixed 7.4%
Since 1996, New Zealand Europeans have fallen from 82.3% of the population, to just over half now. If the current rates of immigration continue, it is likely NZ Europeans will be an absolute minority of the population at the next census (assuming Stats NZ can even manage to do another one).
My numbers are different from the headline figures reported by Stats NZ because they double-count people who report multiple ethnicities and present the results in a misleading way. I have ironed that out by doing my own quick calculations using their data tables. |
