Capitalism essentially wants you to think that you are Jim, i.e. lazy, not committed, but cool and essentially human, grounded, and genuine--not dedicated to the system in any way, shape, or form. They also want you to think that Dwight is the opposite of you, because he's essentially a hyper-autistic revenue machine who derives most of his identity from his work and his role in the company. Of course, Jim essentially ends up "winning" the lottery of the job market after half-assedly grinding it out for nearly a decade, but that's not the point of the show that you are supposed to absorb. Fundamentally they both begin and end as capitalist slaves, but Jim is able to pull it off in a way that seems authentic (I wonder why John Krasinski got so much more work in advertising than Rainn Wilson) and comes off as cool/human/normal while Dwight is just Dwight.

Jim Halpert is essentially one of the mass cultural specters from the aughts that serves as a precursor for where we are now--a phantom of sleek authenticity in an age that will not allow it to exist in its own right. He's the WaPo "hey look! we get it we hate ads too!" popup before that sort of phenomenon needed to exist to grease the wheels of commercial society. The goal is to get you to be fully committed to capitalist niggershit while being able to convince yourself that you aren't because this is the most sustainable model for the vast majority of people.

Dwights will always be Dwights so you don't need to make a TV show for them. This is the same reason that Jim basically "wins". You need to rope the Jims into buying into this retarded slop.

And yeah of course wine-addled cat moms pregnant with burrito babies in their 20s and 30s constantly watch and re-watch this shit show and it accounts for like 10% of Nigflix's traffic. Lmao. Fuck this gay earth. You can’t win.
