Part of what made a place like Harvard (or Williams to use a LAC example) prestigious is that was where prestigious people went. Well-rounded. Old money. Really smart kids, occasionally. I always thought it was a mistake to force colleges to base admissions solely on grades and standardized testing. In other words, Harvard was more prestigious when it wasletting in blacks and legacies than it will be letting in a bunch of grinders. |
