You don't need to make calls to the gpt-5 api programmatically if you don't want, there is a chat playground where you can talk to it. I only use python scripting if I'm using one of the ones that isn't in the playground like o3pro or if I'm automating something. For the ones that require programmatic access, I use a simple script that calls a prompt text file that I save in my home folder, and I just change the context and material and save the file before running the script again.
