lol wut. Look at the map shithead.
Or don't and enjoy your 100+ cloudy/rainy/sleeting days a year along with a piss poor male:attractive female ratio.
North is hotter in summer, colder in winter, more humid year round

Large swathes of LA and many suburbs are decrepit 1920s bungalows and 1950s-70s neighborhoods of crappy little ramblers that increasingly resemble Mexico and have little redeeming virtue beyond the weather.
The nice parts are indeed very nice and a world apart. There's a magic to the canyons with the neighborhoods hidden in the hills and yet so close to the main routes. I can't deny I enjoy where I live. And I'm not even talking about the Westside, which is hollywood glamor and fantasy brought to life. And the food is fantastic and all the different ethnicities are cool.
But "real" middle class is steadily shrinking, there's almost nothing like the middle class suburbs of the midwest or even the East Coast, you need to go far afield to places like Lake Elsinore. Any decent middle class style SFH with decent to good schools starts at $1M and goes up sharply from there. Taxes are high, costs of everything are high, bureaucracy is shockingly incompetent and takes forever for basic stuff and sliding towards some kind of semi-legal corruption. The Brazilification of Southern California into rich and nice and working and mediocre is real.
Go down to southern OC, then you start getting a taste of 1980s California, if you can afford it.
