just to follow up on your first point, Joe repeatedly ran for POTUS and couldn't make it to the runway let alone get his campaign up in the air. his career had termed out as being a small-state dummy in the Senate, useful for promoting foreign wars and for protecting credit card companies. and then Obama tapped Joe to be VPOTUS.
