I setup my account, they didn't require me to have the password mailed- they obviously didn't smell curry like with TT. They are offering 10 year notes paying 4.25%. May be something worth considering if Trump drives down short term rates and longer term rates go up as a result.
Don't see any reason to do it right now, though. I can get a 2-5 year CD from Goldman Sachs (already have an account with them) paying 3.9%, and 4.25% isn't a big enough premium for the hassle and unknown of buying bonds. But it may be in the future. Bonds are exempt from state and local income taxes which is nice.

Actually, the guy who recommended Fidelity was correct, based on this comment:
The major practical downside is that when you buy from TreasuryDirect, you cannot exit your position early by re-auctioning on a secondary market like you can with Fidelity or Schwab.

why bonds over money market funds?
MMF currently pay same interest but more liquid.
