Why the need to shoehorn what could be a 1960s heist movie into Oceans Eleven IP at all? Why do they have to be the parents of George Clooney? That will be the extent of the connection. Will there be more Oceans Eleven themed events? No. There won't be. Is Hollywood this dysfunctional they have to attach everything to existing storylines or else it won't get made? This is as egregious as the "Legally Blonde Elle Woods" show on Netflix or Prime that truly had nothing to with the movie. It could've just been it's own show about a teen rich California girl moving to Seattle in the 90s but no, they had to make it the Legally Blonde PREQUEL series. And you know how much it had anything to do with the Legally Blonde movie? Can you guess that? Honestly I think the creator of that show, a decently talented young woman writer from what I could tell of the 3 episodes I watched probably DID wrote it as it's own standalone work on the beginning. But Netflix said NO! we can't have this. I do think the recent success of Backrooms and the other original IP horror movie could create a path for more original IP in general. Especially if production costs continue to decline.
If anything, as "Big Movie Stars" start to fade from total relevance, I could see this being the case more and more. |
