it got to a segment where the coop npc kept talking and it was pretty eye glazing stuff. i pulled up the live chat and people were arguing over how bad it was or if the constant npc dialogue was “fine”. no one really raved over the gameplay it seemed pretty muted. with the occasional “wtf this npc won’t shut up this isn’t metroid isolation silent protagonist…” “stop being negative |

You could have a 3D game that you just get lost in for hours and check YouTube or guides but Nintendo realizes that that’s shitty so they made it linear.
The other thing is that everything is getting Skewered now because of YouTube and Reddit and shit. Or if a game is good and western devs complain then they get skewered. The only way to sidestep the hate train is to offer a Reprieve from the Current Bad Thing and then AAA gets Skewered. If miles Mackenzie came out in 2007 on Xbox he’d be seen as a Reprieve from Sonys SHIT and also CRAPCOM |

If it's The Same Thing as an unsuccessful thing or a passe thing, it sells like 750,000k units even if the thing took 300 Engineers 10 years to make especially if it's like $70 because of the State of Game Prices.
Metroid Prime was a Reprieve for Nintendo fans who were getting clowned on for supporting a kiddie af Console with Worse Versions of N64 games and/or gay childish graphics. It had a T rating for no reason. Basically just for marketing. Sometimes publishers lobby for a rating imo. After the hype and release cycle and inflated reviews, it had served its purpose. That's why Prime 2 sold like 1/3rd as much as Prime 1. Same for Prime 3 despite like 100,000,000k Wiis shipped. Like 1% of Wii owners bought Prime 3.
Xbox (2001) was a Reprieve for people sick of Japanese games and kiddie faggot games who were also Afraid of PCs, and this dovetailed with Xbox 360, the ultimate Reprieve. After a Gen of Sony dominance, Xbox 360 was a welcome Reprieve. After Gens of dominance, Japanese devs fell into the background. FF13 got SKEWERED. Capcom was dubbed "Crapcom."
PS1 was a Reprieve for publishers tired of Nintendo's cutthroat business tactics and N64'S Cartridges. The Games were a Reprieve because there were so many of them and CDs were cool. Scumbags could put them in their Binders.
Pokemon was a Reprieve for people with idle Game Boys and no N64 games to play.
Genesis was a Reprieve from SNES because the latter was gay and a Joke for Losers and the former is violent, Scummy, and badass as fuck,
Indie Titles atm are a Reprieve from the current State of AAA. $50 COE33 is a Reprieve from $80 games. $50 Star Fox is a Reprieve from $80 Mario Kart. The list goes on.
Switch 1 was a Reprieve from Nintendo's 15 Lost Years (the "No Games" area). It offered Nintendo fans a Reprieve from Nintendo. However, Switch 2 isn't The Same enough. Mario Kart is Different (bad). DK is NOT Mario (bad). Star Fox looks like a Fox (bad). Switch 2 needs to offer a Reprieve for something or else NTDOY will continue its downward slide imho. |

People bought prime 1 and were like “wow this sucks.” The prime 1 remaster has like a 1-2% attach rate with switch consoles. Getting Lost in a game that sucks to get lost in just sucks, and it feels like either bad design or you failed an IQ test, both of which feel Bad. Like I feel bad for Nintendo feeling like they have to make these shitty games no one wants bc they need to appease Reviewers and 50,000k vocal fanboys. But they accidentally made it too shitty so they hate it. If they made it good, let’s face it, they’d hate it.
If I ever actually play a prime game it’ll probably be 4 btw because it’s linear. Idk getting Lost in 3D just sucks way more than 2D for some reason. |
