As an older immigrant who’s been here nearly a decade, and with friends still grinding through the H1B system, I can’t believe the collective reality we have to face. More and more, the journey feels unworthy for those seeking a future in this country.
With the newest H1B policy, it’s clearer than ever: this country doesn’t really want you. It’s close-minded and it’s a*al. Yes, you’re smart. Yes, you’re hardworking. But they’re not worthy of bright people like you. They want people who fit their narrow demographic profile and cling to outdated ideologies. Why fight so hard for something so fundamentally behind?
And honestly, after years of living here, I can say the quality of life isn’t all that remarkable. The system is dominated by Big Pharma, corrupt politicians, and oligarchs who care nothing for morality or collective well-being. I can confidently say that most of my H1B friends who left for other destinations found exactly what they were chasing here—peace, welcoming community, quality of life, and joy.
I’m not here to dismiss anyone’s effort or dreams. I just hope to shift perspectives. Nothing matters more than peace and happiness. You can find all of that and more somewhere else, and you will. I hope every one of you finds that. |
