they had some heavy industry in the 80's didn't they? i thought the soviets had industrialized ukraine to a large extent. more so than freaking kazakhstan and about 10 other shitholes that are still around and kicking.
so do you think the whole place gets politically reabsorbed into russia at some point? when? |

The reason GDP fell double digits there during the crisis is Russia opened a new port to get around shipping through them.
