I beat it when it first came out, and I replayed it I think two years ago, to completion.
WIsh they had finished the storyline, but wow what a triumph. I would just clear out every base and capture every guard with stealth and skyhook them out of there, tried to never kill anyone. Just pure fun. THe stealth mechanic has never been matched, and the graphics were fucking great.

For some reason my left button doesn't work when the controller is in wireless mode but works wired (???). Only an in-game issue too, works fine elsewhere. Will try again tonight

Also forgot you can't have multiple saves in this game. Shame I had to wipe my prestigious old base

a) I played this using a stream controller (which had those funky touchpad things + gyro) back in the day, holy shit my 8bitdo wireless sucks for aiming. The joysticks have way too much inertia so you can't make fine aim adjustments, the initial movement requires a fair amount of force so you always over-flick. Hopefully I still have an xbox controller laying around, playing an FPS with a controller is always suboptimal but this is ass.
b) Constantly impressed by just how well done the game is (even not really being finished) and how noticable the Curation is. E.g. there's no difficulty settings, but the mission rating system will just implicitly shame you into not accepting a ttt B. The side missions are filler, but they're typically either fun or challenging, not an endless procedurally generated snoozefest. Lots of unique little mechanics and touches in the game (the cassette system, easter eggs like fooling guards by playing a tape of a guy shitting, etc.) that you don't see as often in Games Created By Committee
c) I'm not sure there's a single player game in existence which is more purely fun than MGSV can be. Not the best necessarily, just the most fun. Related to above but all the little pieces come together very nicely -- was laughing my ass off when I failed a mission by rolling off a not-particularly high cliff to be immediately met with the "AGH!"
d) Quiet is such a stupid fucking character. Kojima really out-Kojimbo'd himself this time
