There is no way they were making white people slaves-- indentured servants, sure. But even that proved to be expensive and dicey.

and it's not that africans are just inherently more servile. they were completely alone and foreign. if you captured a bunch of seminoles 1) they'd know how to survive and reunite with their people and 2) the uncaptured people of their tribe would want them back. africans were in a completely foreign land and most outside the plantation were unsympathetic towards them.

it's the same way with modern slavery and slaveryesqe practices. a sex worker is imported they are alone, don't speak the language, don't know where to go, etc. someone like that is likely to be servile because they have few other options. meanwhile if i captured your dotter she's much more likely to resist and you're much more likely to violently secure her release.
