Gonna give my thoughts on each game.
RE2: fantastic game. police station is absolutely terrifying and visually amazing. other areas not as impressive. bothered a lot by the cut enemies like spiders and crows. Biggest miss is that Claire and Leon barely interact after the opening segment and unwelcome attempted rewriting of Ada's character.
RE3: They fucked this one up so bad. The streets section is visually amazing and the unscripted chase scenes there with Nemesis are awesome and then they do away with that element for the whole rest of the game. they got really lazy with the later areas to the point that some parts look like mods with thrown together assets rather than a AAA capcom game. Most importantly, they cut the fucking CLOCK TOWER which gave the tonal and gameplay shift that kept RE3 anchored as a resident evil game rather than a generic action game. Okayish taken on own merits but a really poor remake of RE3.
RE4: This was an epic game. Not sure if I'd call it survival horror anymore but it was a lot of fun with a massive quest. The weapons are so sick once you fully upgrade them and get the exclusives. Lots of good boss fights.I never finished the original RE4, but my biggest complaint after checking comparisons is that they made some extremely unfortunate dialogue choices and cut all of Leon's best lines. Some of the most misguided script revisions I've ever seen. The shop guy is also pretty immersion-breaking, and accessing storage through the typewriter instead of having physical storage boxes is stupid.
RE Requiem: An absolute gem, almost perfect from start to finish. Only minor negative is that there were parts where Grace's sections could have used a bit more size and complexity for the maps. But her sections were legitimately scary. Leon's sections were a blast. Leon also literally enacts an XO meme by surviving being in a falling train with the "jump before you hit the ground" trick.
