im getting some quotes on some hvac shit. i had this company do another unit a couple years ago because of COSTCO benefits. theyre the only COSTCO hvac contractor in my area.
the first time i had to look up all the models for everything myself to see if they qualified for the energy efficient tax credit. same thing is happening this time because the dude keeps saying only the top units qualify, but that's not true. he also keeps adding the tax credit into the quote. asked for a quote for a standard unit 3x and he keeps fucking it up. then he said “why would you want that, its more expensive?” and i asked why theyd make a low efficiency unit that cost more, and he clarified he meant after the tax credit. i showed him on the irs website it qualified and he just ignored that.
every one of these salesman are dogshit. idk how you can spend your entire life selling this shit and still not know what youre talking about. ran this past a couple hvac tech friends who confirmed im correct about several things he's wrong about. i hate being a know-it-all client to a putative expert but these guys are just SO FUCKING DUMB and cannot follow SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.
idk why they just dont have the actual techs do sales. maybe their time is more lucrative just doing the job and they pay their sales guys shit. im about to just forgo my COSTCO benefits and go with a small local breh just so I don't have to deal with this shit.

just call someone else lol
never spend even a single second interacting with incompetent people. as soon as they reveal themselves to be dumb/dishonest, kick them off your property

It’s a nightmare. They’re all trying to take advantage of you and the ones who aren’t are fools because they can get away with it. This is not the 1950s where you’re all going to church together, your kids are in school together, you all root for the Indians, etc. This is living in a low-trust society, which has changed in our lifetimes.
It’s the old trope of a woman going to a mechanic and paying $200 for premium air in her tires, etc. except it’s every single major purchase you make and we’re all women.

there's multiple different credits and rebates. i get that people can't do simple math and some might even prefer to have the net price laid out of them. but i've asked him not to, mostly because he's wrong about some of the rebates that happen after the sale. i just want to see what his company is going to charge and figure out the other stuff for myself.
it's the same with car sales. the salesmen are trained to talk about the monthly price because they're trained to and used to retards who can only think of purchase in those terms. most of their customers probably prefer this too. and they look at you like you have two heads if you have a cash price, or if you choose shorter term financing with a lower APR.
"but... the monthly payments are higher!"

I did this a year ago. I just went to my usual HVAC company which has perfect ratings and has been a pleasure to work with. They gave me a reasonable quote, compared one other well reviewed place as a reality check and then accepted the original offer.
Could I have saved some small amount doing some Costco BS? Perhaps, but then I'd be in a frustrating shitshow of poor service like OP. People that aren't willing to pay for good service will always be the ones complaining about poor service.

I was kicking around getting a lease on a new EV before the tax credits ran out. Emailed 4 dealerships - I got probably 25 emails but only 1 gave me a fucking quote on the cars listed on their website. The other emails all insisted i come down to the office.
You can see where Tesla is super popular for just ordering the exact car you want on standard pricing in 10 minutes.

lol @ you, you retard ethnic, choosing contractors based on fake online reviews -- rather than word of mouth with personal references

right so you're familiar with this.
the only reason i mentioned COSTCO was to stave off the "just go somewhere else lol" comments. it's like buying a new car at a dealership with a bunch of shitty salesman. they're the only game in town, and while the car might be 180, you have to get past the gauntlet of retarded salesman.
after several quotes the local brehs cannot match COSTCO incentives. and i know this company does a good job on installation and service because i've used them for other stuff. i just have to get past the gauntlet of retarded salesd00ds.
