because nobody got the actual argument correct.
the correct way to pitch crypto was: "there's a good chance it could be an insane store of value ponzi scheme like gold", but people tried to pretend like if it *did* end up becoming "digital gold" that there would be some rational reason for it being a store of value. there isn't, but turns out you don't actually need one.
that's to say nothing of the people who argued for its future value based on utility. it's still largely useless unless you're buying drugs on the internet and hundreds of billions of VC web 3.0 dollars later there isn't a case for normies to give a shit about it irl. so these people were just flat out 100% wrong, even after insane resources being poured into materializing the prophecy

Intelligently purchased rare coins can, over a 10+ year time frame, be expected to behave on par with or better than a t-bond.
With a bit of research, you can often cherry pick rare varieties for a very good price.
I'm still surprised that there are so many purported high salaries here but almost nobody's involved in the collecting markets. TSINAH's maps and CSLG's modern first-print books are the only examples that come to mind.
