there's just no way that democracy can ever function on the scale of 400 million people, with mass immigration, with the existence of The Matrix, with international capital, etc

even if you're maximally charitable to democracy as a workable concept in principle, the current state of the world renders it impossible in practice

"democracy" did not historically refer to the biomass state we have now. if china can redefine communism, we can redefine democracy.

china didn't redefine communism though, they abandoned it and did something else instead

if you mean that we should do the same thing with "democracy," and do something else while playing semantic games with the term....i mean, "we" have already been doing that for a while, lol. democracy dies in darkness btw

I mean to be fair the elites already operate under a new definition of democracy. Especially in Europe where parties are outright banned and speech is censored. Democracy just provides cover for whatever the elite rentier class wants to do. But I assume everyone on This Great Bort already understands this.

The Founders got it right IMO. A meaningfully limited Republic is the only way to go. Otherwise it's a race to the bottom (which inevitably only serves to enrich rentiers.)

It's also quite sick to effectively force people to follow this shit and care at all. This idea that "your voice" is important is evil and only serves to make people feel powerless given how little the popular will influences the government in any meaningful way. e.g.) border security, voter ID.

Monarchies make the most sense from a Caste and Phenotype perspective. Rule by your Betters and if they fail then off with the head.
