When the principles are useful, you invoke them; when they’re inconvenient or get in the way of taking a shot at someone, they disappear. That’s why I (and others here with half a brain) don’t find these discussions with you particularly worthwhile. |

And I don’t think you realize that plenty of people genuinely don’t operate that way. If someone sincerely believed, for example, that men today are too feminine and that femininity in men is something worthy of ridicule, a principled person might eventually recognize, “Okay, I clearly have some pretty traditional views about gender. Maybe I’m more conservative than I thought.” They’d reconcile their political identity with what they actually believe.
You seem to do the opposite. You hold onto the progressive identity and its social cachet while feeling perfectly free to contradict its principles whenever convenient. It’s less a coherent worldview than a status identity.
Which is fine, especially since you admit it. But once someone recognizes that, there’s really nothing to debate. You’re just saying things. |
