What are you saving for? If you're single and you're not weighed down by a mortgage you simply don't need that much money. What comes next?

It's basically just a financial cushion in case I lose my job and struggle to find a new job. I used to think of it as my early retirement account, but I don't make enough to save enough to retire all that early.

Leave half in there. Take the other half and split it between schd or jepi and vgt.

Seems like a bad idea for two reasons: 1. it's a taxable event, and 2. it'd reduce portfolio diversity.

Because the ETFs you mention hold fewer stocks than VTI, and buying them would increase my exposure to a subset of the market rather than capturing the US market as a whole through VTI. Also, those ETFs will almost certainly underperform relative to VTI over the long term.

What do you mean what can you do with it? Do you mean something to earn greater yield than total index? Then S&P 500. Do you mean something to earn way greater yield? Start a business with it.

Just let it do there. You might need cash for a downpayment someday. And if you get married, a ring, wedding, etc. Good to have some pre-marital scratch.
