This is an effective strategy because Google has the lowest churn of any user base in history. They can flip the switch and turn on the real AI for profit any time they want
And I suspect that move would crush everyone else
Secondarily it will become an existential issue.
If you look at Anthropic's current market cap trajectory, it should eclipse Meta pre-IPO. It should eclipse global GDP by 2028. At some point Google will stop fucking around with side projects and eliminate the competition
