at some point, a 1960's western marketing executive intervened and explained that it might be better to compactify the name. and it worked. trinitron ended up as the single most profitable line of televisions of the CRT era.

had several Trinitrons (Trinistron?) as a kid. iconic. i see them sold as collector's items on Ebay for like $2000.
