Date: December 20th, 2025 9:07 AM Author: Cobalt heaven this is merely a personal anecdote that i do not mean to suggest applies more generally: i've seen an engineer with a BS and MS in CS struggle to write code, and he performed significantly worse than an engineer without a CS degree on the same team/project.
but my personal opinion is that coding jobs are becoming very inaccessible to coders without CS/STEM degrees. despite having a STEM degree from a "prestigious" STEM school, i struggled to get interviews when i was looking around recently. several years ago i could get multiple interviews lined up within a few short weeks. i have a few coder friends who don't have CS/STEM degrees, and i think most of them are unemployed at the moment. |
