The pretty brutal thing is that it wouldn't even be that hard to fix. There's no need to tackle the national debt in one go, just pass a balanced budget every year. Debt coming due in its natural course and inflation would largely do the dirty work for us. Politicians are just catty fags & nobody wants to hold the line when they're actually the ones in power.
