It has an amazing depiction of the Texas Hill Country during the Great Depression - people today can't even conceive of the level of poverty and desperation back then. Eg there’s the famous anecdote of the road to the beach being designed so white families in cars could get there but not blacks taking public transit; whole story is fake. |
