BOTW was a triumph and i quit playing tears about 3 hours in because it was the same. i'd never played GTA before i just fired up GTA III on steam the other night, but the entire game just seems to be running driving missions for scum NPCs for virtual money (ie take this hooker to this house and get the car painted at this other place). is that the entire game?

You are better off starting with GTA: San Andreas or just going straight to GTA 5. GTA III is great, but it is dated. It gets to be more fun for sure, but it doesn't have the variety or dynamism of later games.

Elden Ring’s is pretty good if you have a lot of time on your hands or ingenious intuition about things. The way that some quests progress is like NES Simon’s Quest tier if not more cryptic.

Every one of these games that has lots of Fields and Land bores me automatically btw. They need to stop making these imo. Like Zelda’s open world has shrines which have Things inside of them. Land and trees and Herbs and Caves are bullshit if that’s all there is.

Elden Ring is quite literally hundreds of square miles of nothing. Oversized World just for the sake of being Oversized, no real point.

Oh yeah, and the "rolling INTO the attack" mechanic is fucking gay as fuck

Also there’s a cool af underground area with multiple entrances and exits on the overworld. Other things like that too probably which I never found.

1 might've been the most interesting, despite the shitty neverwinter nights engine. I still enjoyed doing side quests and other open world stuff in 3 than pretty much every oblivion-esque game, although the dlc and main story were far better.

I would add GTA 5 to the OP List.

Otherwise, he is pretty much spot on.
