i just wrote him off completely once i realized he was following a formula for his movies.
maybe i should give them another try, i dunno. i feel like these movies also coincided with a lot of filler, trash "indie pop" music that was fucking horrid too. |

the use of the nico song "these days" and elliott smith's "needle in the hay" were truly great in that movie. |

But I could tell even being young that Tenenbaums was very much Rushmore with a big budget. I also couldn't relate to the Tenenbaum family as a poor person.
