I had heard the song growing up listening to the oldies station but I remembered it as Then He Kissed Me and with women singing it; I was concerned that I had early onset dementia or something. Not quite yet, I guess: I looked it up and I was right, the Crystals did sing it the way that I thought in 1963, and then it was covered by the Beach Boys four years later with the lyrics changed. Pretty strange. The Crystals version is much better (and the producer was Phil Spector, who later went on to murder a female actress friend).
