in israel's defense:

the palestinians do not respect and scarcely ever have respected the human rights of israelis in return. "eye for an eye" is the law of the torah, and to jews, the law of the torah supersedes the laws of the nations. whether or not this is acceptable or desirable is up for debate.

that said, there is no excusing the extent of what's going on and this entire incident is a black mark on israel's conduct as a nation amongst many

Trump has undermined the rule of law, protection of human rights and international justice, which all lie at the heart of a rules-based global order. He has slashed funding to the United Nations and threatened more cuts while disengaging from the U.N. Human Rights Council. He abruptly terminated nearly all U.S. foreign aid, which had supported human rights defenders and provided lifesaving humanitarian assistance around the world. Cuts to grants by the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor and offices on refugees, women and global justice further downgraded America’s commitment to human rights.

there was a lot of grifting trash in those balance sheets that should not have been there. the state wastes taxpayer money on bridges to nowhere in zambia like we had no need for actual bridges here in the US

completely turning your back on the US-led UN is obviously a mistake though. the current UNSC arrangement allows America to get most of what it wants politically from the international community and frankly provides a good service to the world in a dumb little pressure release valve diplomacy game between the great powers
