"Uhh! You're being scammed! You Fool!" "They're going to make you pay enough money for them to order/use genuine parts while also making enough to pay professional experienced mechanics! You could save an amorphous amount taking it to this hole in the wall over here ! I know a guy! You fail to grasp the engineering at play here! You Fool!"
-People who wouldnt be able to change their own tires say all of these things
yet If I take it to the dealer I can Just Forget about it and its Handled for Me.
The second I get into the whole rooting around for "deals" and being wary of "scams" Im instantly plunged into a picaresque nightmare filled with insane people where no amount of money seems to actually get the result im looking for
I am happier to pay 250% and pay the Tax to Not Think and Get Result without any of the accoutrements of Scum on my boots, all of this arbitrage seems to be gone these days and theres no "value" to be found anyway dealing with Scummier and scummier "people" to save weimarbucks ust seems ridicilous

Every car repair place is a scam
Dealership is just as likely to be bad and incompetent as illegal Pedro down the road.

I havent found much difference in pricing between dealerships and non-dealerships. Used to be your local mechanic down the road was cheaper. I don't think that's true anymore. They all charge ridiculous prices.
Dealer mechanics get training directly from the manufacturer. They also work on the same manufacturer's cars, so they know them better.
Unless you know a good trustworthy mechanic, in the end you're getting fucked either way. i'd rather get fucked at the dealership.
