But there has to be the right mix of signifiers to hold down the white crowd to only a smattering of hipsters and friends of black people. These restaurants always look slightly out of place but when you go by on a weekend it clicks into place as you see the birthday parties for black women with good hair and rent-stabilized apartments in the adjoining black neighborhood. |
