Wealthiest 30% of Americans are so rich and have so much surplus there's still enormous room to spend spend spend. And even though proles don't got it like that the bottom 70% of earners spend close to 100% of earnings. Even if most of that goes to rent and credit cards they're still spending like mad to keep up the bottom. And richmos are absolutely balling at the top. It's still insane to me anyone thinks that there's any chance of the economy going down.

inevitable outcome is the worldwide digital panopticon/mark of the beast + centralized in greater israel

money will be digital, programmable and conditional on individual compliance via CBDCs, overseen by a malevolent AI scanning everyone's digital footprints & assigning up to the minute social credit scores

eat the bugs, get the jewish heart attack jabs, say and do all the right things (which inevitably involve your slow poisoning and becoming infertile) or have all your money automatically taken from you. no right of appeal, comply or your money simply won't work

longer term the parasitical upper elite jews want to become a separate race entirely from the mongrelized, mixed race slave class who will be used for medical experimentation like lab rats and sexual exploitation

Serious question I’m not being snarky. Imo it doesn’t even make sense to talk about a coherent, unified “economy” that responds to real world conditions anymore. That concept no longer exists in practice

The massive increase in consumption behaviors of the bottom 70% is still the major driver of their lack of participation in the ZIRP driven expansion of the last 30 years. You’re absolutely right that probably more like the bottom 80 or more of incomes live paycheck to paycheck, and if you count house poor UMCs with retirement savings rates that are too low you’re probably at 90%. But Americans eat out more than 2x the amount they did in 1980 and eat 3x the amount of fast food. Various other expenses that historically would have been throttled down during tighter economic times don’t show the same drops (eg box office is booming this year, travel and leisure expense wasn’t impacted nearly as much as expected either during the 2022-23 spike in gas prices or since the spike this year, Walmart has been crushing for the last 2 years and Target reversed its revenue slide in early 2026). The main takeaway from the last 5 years is that Americans will bitch plenty about high prices but not bother to get off their lazy asses and cook something instead of ordering DoorDash or eating out and they are not desperate enough to stop buying cheap foreign made goods even as Gen Z has repurposed used clothing retail to find new ways to pay for expensive designer brands and collectors items. We are very far from people spending $10 a week to feed a family of four with 5 lbs of rice and beans and a whole chicken.

Biggest offenders are middle class people who actually have choices about stuff like cars and housing and still overspend on those plus college plus daily expenses. Bottom 2 quintiles are pretty fucked (one can argue the eugenics case, but at a minimum I’d agree it’s clear these people need help from somewhere), but these should also be the people that fill the massive/growing trades gap, and if the market is not solving the mismatch on its own that’s a great opening for a directed/limited policy intervention.

who is in denial about this? the whole reason radicals like bernie, trump and obama (during his campaign) are so popular is because they point this out and campaign on fixing.

obviously there is broad recognition of this and a strong desire to change. the problem is that it's a very hard thing to actually do. especially with how bitterly partisan things are. yesterday you called me a commie for saying exactly what you're talking about now.

What am I talking about? You often jump ahead and make assertions about things I have never said. This thread is about how naysayers and doomers don't think this can go on forever but it obviously can.

Whether or not politicians campaign on hope and change, successfully or unsuccessfully, is tertiary to whether or not richmos can prop up economic growth indefinitely. I'm just stating the facts regardless of how you feel about them.

im addressing your thread title about people being in "deep denial" about the K-shaped economy, which i took to mean "doesn't exist."

i didn't address your assertion that "it can obviously go on forever" because it's too retarded to engage with. if that's what you meant with denial, i.e. that it's obvious it'll last forever, thats retarded.

history is repleate with periods of wealth consolidating until the working class gets fed up and big systemic changes happening. it's happened multiple times in us history. so no, it's not obvious that this will last forever, because if it did it'll be the first time in human history that's happened.

no. the progressive era, new deal, and great society all occurred without violent revolution. and there have been plenty of pro-working class reforms since then too.

my point is that throughout human history people have never been ok will being exploited forever. we're already seeing discontent surging year after year. from both the right and the left. i doubt there are many zoomers looking at their prospects and are hopeful things are going to get better.

this type of reform is something you've screeded about for years. your tune has only changed since you downloaded robinhood. have you considered that perhaps it's only "obvious" to you now that that's what you'd like to happen? otherwise, why wasn't it "obvious" until last month?

I notice though a lot of wishful doomerism especially in MSM. Lot of news articles this past week about how the economy ought to be doing worse to reflect the feelings of the author. That's all I'm getting at. Misplaced doomerism.

I don't think it speaks for regular every day people. By virtue of it speaking for the ruling class, it has the value of accurately reflecting the sentiment of those with the heaviest investments in the economy. And to me it's a sort of latter day bourgeois sentiment of I'm so fucking well off, what I really want is for the world to reflect how I feel. To be honest it's just the left wing inverse of the right. They just want Bad Things to happen under Trump the same way Trumpmos wanted bad things to happen under Biden. It's all very post-scarcity. It's what you would do if you had no financial problems for decades and were fixated on your side winning. There are plenty of people who disagree but the boomers are still Winning.

because they have an interest in the stock market growing. you might as well be citing CEO remarks about how well their company is doing.

privately it's a different story. and the best indication of that is how volitile the market had been.

why do you think the market took such a huge hit in february on operations in iran that didnt cause any immediate impact to justify such a decline? it's because the same people who are saying "it's going up forever!" have their finger on the sell button because they are afraid the music is about to stop.

A lot of investor panic. People worried about oil shock. There was a time period when it looked like there was no way out of Iran War for US. Lots of negative headlines. It's actually called a market dislocation and it was very temporary. I predict market will rip more later in the year. It's flat right now but when things look up again it will rip. No one is selling.

you can predict whatever you want, im just saying your rationale is full of errors in reason and fact. for example i just cited market volatility and you talked about "panic selling", without considering whether institutional investors panicking over these conflicts at this level is unusual.

spoiler alert: it is. instead of taking their self-interested statements on msnbc as fact, perhaps consider why they are more panicky than usual, even comparing similar periods during other conflicts, and what that says about how much faith they really have.

Another reason rents are so high is that cities became unlivable. No one talks about this because it's about cracking down on urban crime which Dems consider racist.

Safe cities used to be a wonderful place for young people to thrive and build up their savings for cheap. Now you have to avoid large swaths of evil urban area. It's destroying value for young people.

expanding the housing supply requires more apartments. it's just geography. single family home suburbs become increasingly inefficient as the population of an urban area increases, as you have to build further and further out, dedicate more inner ring land for highways to the outer ring, and so on

but apartments will never be acceptable to decent, respectable people unless there are strong norms around behavior, and yes, libs hate this.

There are tons of super wealthy urban areas. The problem is they're a small percentage of the total urban area. The problem is too much thunderdome. There will always be people trying to gentrify any cheap neighborhood that's on the come up because it's such an efficient use of land.
