I never had what some of the posters here had in it, but it has been fun to research, invest, trade, etc. Some of the shit bought increased, some didn't. Now, it seems like it's just dead and not coming back.
I feel for the guys who had tens of thousands into it; in the end, I'll lose 3k. I have $200 worth of VET, and I'm not going to bother to pull it out.
Good luck to you guys who are still trying to make money.

so then why are all 800 coins down and 100% correlated?
shouldn't 1 coin, i.e. bitcoin, be up while everything else is down?

Because of liquidity, plain and simple. Same reason housing and stocks and art are all up together while they all got trashed together in 2008. People who invested in crypto made money, then invested in other crypto, sometimes using leverage (same as housing and stocks). This propelled all crypto values up in unison, which then attracted new investors, dramatically exaggerating the upswing. When the market started suffering then all coins suffered together, and liquidity dried up, new investment decreased and HODLers sell which exacerbates the decline. These are the same dynamics that occur in any market and cause well-known boom and bust cycles. It just happens that the boom and bust cycles are much, much bigger in crypto than other markets (and keep in mind in real estate and stocks -50% is very much possible too). The booms and busts are so drastic because crypto is currently so speculative, on par with early-stage tech companies. Some will make it, and make it huge; most will not.
There were also specific dynamics this year around ICOs; many outright shit companies rode the coattails of legitimate coins, and collected billions of dollars worth of BTC and ETH. Now those shitcoin projects are selling their BTC and ETH stashes and basically blowing the value. Exuberance drove those projects up last year, and harsh reality is bringing them to zero and BTC and ETH down with them as they destroy the value they fundraised.

What do you mean dapp approach?
Do you mean ICO funding vehicle?
What is ETH without dapps?
