I thought it was pretty high too, but that's what Career Services gave us. It would mean more if they broke it down a bit like CLS did as to what percentage went to which type of firm, etc.

They expect this year to be better than last year.

Impressive. Did they mention anything about how grade cutoffs changed as a result of the new curve and crappy economy? They used to use 3.5 and 3.3 as general cutoffs for higher and mid tier firms, respectively.

yea they said 3.3-3.49 is still the vast majority of firms, and that for 3.5 and above there are historically 10 firms but that like 16 or 17 other firms (that number may be off by a bit) kicked their hiring up into 3.5 or above, but that over half of those that did ended up getting no accepts by NYU students that they offered to.

So consensus seems to be that probably like 15-18 firms I guess will continue to look for 3.5 and above, but otherwise many of those firms will kick back down to 3.3-3.49 if they want to get any NYU students.

For EIP, the "offers accepted" numbers show zero for gov. agencies (some may have accepted, but they aren't counted in the totals because a few of the agencies didn't provide numbers). Also, only one person accepted a consulting gig from EIP.

Exactly. That's 100+ students at each school who would have cruised into big firm jobs 3 years ago. From the perspective of a potential student, 70% is great and likely worth sticker.

From the perspective of a law student, it's shocking. It's 1 in every 3 people you know have a serious wrench thrown into their career and debt management plan.

Of course it's a blood bath, but we already knew that before the numbers came out. Many had predicted it was much worse, given the anecdotal reports. Thus, the numbers are surprisingly good to some people on here [not me, they are exactly what I expected].

definitely thought theyd be a lot worse. my estimation was 50% at CCN, 30% MVPD, worse for lower.

so im guessing we can revise those numbers upward?

80-100% (of those who did EIW) at HYS

70% at CCN

50% at MVPDB

30% at GNC

I dont think Berkeley should be that high. The combination of a shitty grading system, fewer east coast firms attending, and traditionally placing in the west coast (which was one of hte most hard hit) probably means they are a good bit lower than 50%, but that's just IMO.

I have several 3L friends who STILL have no employment lined up. Graduation is in 3 weeks. These kids are in serious trouble.

I cannot imagine the disaster that awaits the class of 2011. Not all of the 140 jobless 2Ls are going to be able to find someting in public interest.

And this is CLS/NYU. I imagine 2Ls in schools 10-20 are well and truly fucked.

Maybe this will dramatically reduce law school applications?

I mean... holy fuck.

since when is posting stats from school considered gunnerism? shouldnt a gunner be memorizing their 1000 page outline instead
