this. add in few weeks a year at some company's headquarters and about a month of scrambling when projects are wrapping up + subtract a few days where lunch evolves into an evening out.

Kindly inform my secretary of this. She spent a couple hours today not only reading a magazine, but also listening to music with her headphones on. Come on, lady, at least pretend.

She is at least 55 and matronly. I don't even want to think about her breasts, much less describe them.

Tech advances have made her obsolete. Back in the day she would have to type memos you handwrote. That could keep her occupied. Now all she does is time entry and that takes what? 20 minutes per attorney per day

Typical day for me depends on pressure

Some days I have a deadline breathing down my neck and I'm usually pretty focused and working most of the time. Other days it's like show up, check stocks, read WSJ, make coffee, do half an hour of research, look at NBA stats, spend an hour reviewing docs, lunch, etc.

I pad slightly but I don't go crazy with it. It's rare that there's a day when there's really nothing I can do, but I'm in midlaw and the firm kind of needs me to know the cases well since they're leanly staffed, so I can always put in some time reviewing the file and such. Plus with doc review there are usually batches of docs that I wouldn't bother with under time pressure but will go through with nothing to do.

My employees basically enter invoices into SAP all day or take things out of one box, and put them into another. One day they will build robots to replace all of them, but for now I have to give them health insurance and pretend I care if they live or die.

The SAP chimps all have associates degrees in accounting so they take home $550 or 600 a week depending on how long they've been with the company. The shipping chimps make $11 an hour, and work 30 hours a week. We now have a full time CPA and he make 55k. My IT guy makes 90k, and is asking for equity. I will probably up him to 100k if he shuts the fuck up about equity. And I can't believe I just posted true numbers, but I did.
