look, you can't tell if someone is a superstar from what they did in HS outside of sports and maybe mathematics.
this kid is an Asian striver. he made AIME 4 times without ever making it to USAMO, he is not good at math; he also sucks at sports.
he did well at USABO or whatever, but biology is memorization.
he is not a bad candidate, but enough with this superstar shit.

false, he made it to the USAMO competition and he's not just another Mu Alpha Theta member. That's pretty impressive because it requires you to take a nationally administered test and score high enough to advance to subsequent rounds. The next level above that is IMO, I believe. That's the International Math Olympiad. Basically, the 6 most genius math students in high school are selected per country and compete in Greece.
The jump from USAMO to IMO is a big one, but most of the dudes participating in USAMO are fucking hoss at math and science.
Check out the past members of IMO though, they're pretty sick. I knew one of them in 2004. He is making multimillion dollars at dat hejfund in NYC. Parties it up just about every weekend.

Berkeley.
I will try to found a startup in Asia hopefully within the next year. I don't know what I will do after that, either continue to do the entrepreneur thing or go to business school at some point.

like i said, going to business school would be a last resort type of thing. i don't see it happening tbh.
and lol @ trying to talk shit about one of the most prestigious universities in the world, even though school prestige means jack shit in the vast majority of professions, or getting laid.

lol at violin being a hobby for him.
His parents have been training him since birth and shoving him into whatever looks best.
His hobby is trying to be perfect, and other asians have to be drones to compete.

why are the two lifestyles mutually exclusive?
Playing sports - why is it a better use of time than learning the math/science that this dude is? You can still exercise and be healthy without committing the time to team-sports.
Making Mistakes - this happens throughout life no matter what you're doing. Don't see why being an average american doing jackshit in hs makes it any more meaningful.
Being young and in love - you know he wants dat wgwag. Most people on xo probably can't touch this guy's resume and intelligence and still have 0 success with their love life.
It sounds like you're just mad at the stereotypes?
I'd rather my kid be like him than an avg american.

teamwork aspect, camaraderie, working towards a common goal, socialization, physical fitness, school spirit, respecting authority figures, just plain fun, etc. I'm not sure there are academic endeavors that can combined all these, nevermind the fact you do academic shit all day at school and need another outlet

The problem is that this kid is the asian ideal.
ANd not all asians are fit for this ideal. I certainly wasn't.
And it has pretty much fucked me for life, thus far.
