So far the book appears to be a collection of nearly incoherent and loosely related vignettes. Occasionally they are humorous or interesting due to everyday philosophical insight or queer facts, however, usually, the passages are tedious.

Perhaps my opinion will change when I reach page 500 or 750. The book is an infinite jest on the reader; the joke is how long will you stick with something you dislike.

If I finish the novel at least I can critique it from a position of authority. For the first 150 pages I thought it quirky and different. I had hope that the writing would mature and reveal and underlying structure. However, as I march on I lose that hope. This book is filled with bullshit like 3 pages on chemical structures. 2 pages on equations used for radio transmission, etc...

dude, no wonder you applied to cooley. first of all, GR was an incredibly tough read. It was such a faggot book, up there with Ulysses and Dubliners. Obv anything will be easy compared to GR, so that's a dumb point.

second, by JR you probably mean JP. It was awesome, but frankly I don't see a need to read a book like that when there's a major motion picture of it, even if the tyrannosaur was small compared to irl see. estrada for more info on this.

and of course PF is a movie. It's not even a fucking book you idiot. it's good and wtf is even in the briefcase, but it's still a movie. faggot.

I read it twice. The story of BIM and his 12-step group was the better part I liked the most, probably because of the insight into the psychology of addiction I was experiencing at the time.

The tennis school group with Hal and his dead dad, slut mom and dwarf/deformed brother was interesting and enjoyable, but they felt less realistic to me.

The Quebecois separatist stuff with the catatonia-inducing terrorist DVD was my least favorite thread of the story.

As a WW2 buff and someone with a lifelong interest in aeronautics GR was fascinating. It's incredibly dense but try reading it while high. You'll get through it a few pages at a time but it becomes as vivid as a movie in your head.
