no i never really adjusted that well. you gotta realize that being aspie, academic brainy egghead hurts you, that 99% of the job is about appearances and typos, and that ur legal briefs and writing need to be very basic and simple. dont get clever, partners hate it. pay attention to deadlines.

Ok but billables is how they make money. Obviously if these guys are going to have a house in Scarsdale and a vacation home in a prestigious place, they need to be making a shitload of money year in year out. So if you work for a top firm, they're going to find as many billable hours as they can for you while you're there.

biglaw ain't a death sentence bro, assuming you ain't an idiot (pay down debt/save diligently, no lifestyle inflation, etc) you should have a nice equity cushion and a marketable resume in a few years. Make the jump to nicer ship (fed/state gov, inhouse, open a bakery) and you are golden.

i actually don't mind biglaw. working for decent people goes a long way for this. yea the hours are long and the work is boring. but you know what your getting yourself into and for most people there is a finite timeline. keep your eyes on that finish line
