Then one day it clicked. I can't really explain why I like them and I still don't think everything they have is essential but they're definitely rated appropriately. I remember listening to 'There Is a Light' ad-nauseum and that's when it made sense. I think it was because I knew that Moz was the president of the New York Dolls fanclub in England so I always expected the Smiths to be a bit more punk-ish so the reference to the New York Dolls in that song sold me on them. |

They're a different band the Cure, though. Weirdly enough, the Smiths have significantly more attitude. They've also held up better over the years even if Pornography and Disintegration are great albums. Even some of the Cure's newer stuff has been good. |
