I make less money than most of my close friends, so I usually don't feel that well-compensated. I recognize that I have a great gig objectively, although I could find a similar job without much trouble if I wanted to.

My biggest issue with my job is the amount of time required to manage people and details to get projects done. Ideally I would just come up with ideas and hand them off to other people to implement, but pay and responsibility inevitably come with a large management component.

How long of a period is your travel?

What is the distance of travel?

Is the travel anticipated (e.g., regularly travel to X city like clock work)?

i handle a 10 state area. projects can be in large urban areas or in the middle of nowhere. sometimes i need to spend three or four days on site, but other times im traveling for a one hour meeting. sometimes i have to drop everything and schedule a flight for the next day, but that is rare. usually i get between three days and two weeks notice.

edit: didnt see your last question. there are times when you know a particular matter will require twenty visits to the same site, but not usually.
