I have a job making six figures, where I give orders rather than take them, and where there is a non-zero chance of me getting further promotions.

Given what this board says about law school: That biglaw is hard to get, and worse, soul crushing; where you get screamed at by seniors and partners for misplaced commas; that the earnings of biglawyers are similar to mine; and that the only way to make more is the even rarer possibility of becoming partner -- I'd say I did well in not going to law school.

Also, I did not score a 169.

But you do get mad, despite earning the amount you claim. That's what makes you insufferable. Like an Elite Athlete getting mad because critics thinks he sucks. Said Elite Athlete would simply ignore them.

Most big lawyers are not elite. They will probably have fine lives. You are not elite. Your life will also be perfectly pleasant and productive. HTH.

Lol. Nobody thinks that law school is a good idea. But your initial impulse is to say that you're richer, better off, have more power than lawyers. Which may or may not be true. Either way, its unseemly and reeks of insecurity.

BTW you should read some of the pysch work on system/self justification. I think you would find it illuminating.

You probably earn slightly less than what a 1st year does, but otherwise credited. Biglaw sucks. That being said, about 15-20% of new the lawyers in NYC at least start boutiques or above-market firms, so they also out-earn you. Then there is the huge number of successful shitlaw people of all stripes. Many DUI guys, estate and trust lawyers, the torts lords, etc, make a lot more than you ever will. Law is crazily stratified and you make more than the majority of young lawyers, but at the comparable levels of success, most lawyers make more than you and have much higher ceilings. On a board full of biglawyers you keep attempting to boast that you make about as much as the first rung of the ladder for us.

Here is my point: I will make about 250-300k next year if my performance is good. I do not get screamed at it stress over commas. The likelihood if me achieving this outcome by going to law school is astonishingly small.therefore, avoiding law school was Orin a very good choice for me, since few get big law, big law sucks, and the chances if becoming partner are minute

You are wildly overstating the worst aspects of biglaw to make yourself feel superior to the lawyers, because you assume they are the ones that criticize you the most on XO. Many non-equity roles are over $300K total comp. Earl makes around $250K all-in although he's wisely shy about saying so, and he's a young lawyer very early in his career. Even shitlaw steve clears $300K most years, and that's in no way unusual for someone with more than a decade of private practice experience. I agree that avoiding law school was a smart choice because you likely would not have been able to succeed in the more lucrative areas of law with your skillset and abilities. You are where you should be. But you must understand, you sound money-obsessed and resentful when you constantly compare your salary to lawyers. I have seen you doing this in many dozens of threads. It seems reflexive, possibly compulsive.

what she does isn't even cognizable as a job/work to anyone who rises above document review in biglaw. but that's a plus. biglaw really does suck shit. even midlaw and shitlaw are pretty shitty, even when lucrative--why do you think e.g. earl and shitlaw steve complain so much about it

I feel the same way. Law is a grind and the salaries are the only thing that justify it in most cases. I just find Julia's endless compulsive discussion of her salary and comparison to law salaries very strange. She mentions it over and over, in thread after thread, even shoehorning it in for no reason. Ordinarily I wouldn't bother to comment, but when you see something so often and for disparate reasons, eventually curiosity overwhelms. Especially when she has also said in the past that she doesn't care much about money, does not like corporate life, and all these other things meant to tell she's a down to earth person who doesn't obsess about the game. But then in every thread she talks about salary relative to lawyers. It's comes across as an obsession.

You've certainly done very well for yourself but the constant comparisons you make with lawyer salaries and particularly biglaw salaries, are misconceived.

What you don't realize is that anyone with a few years experience in biglaw, or even good midlaw or good company inhouse, will be earning at least that much. There are probably dozens of lawyer posters who earn as much as you do and many of them won't be as old as you. The difference is that they don't post their salaries on the board.

MBAs PWN JDs at nearly every level.

I'd rather a Harvard MBA than a Yale JD; a UCLA MBA over a UCLA JD; a TTT MBA over a TTT JD, and so forth.

The MBA is cheaper, shorter in duration, and gives you more career flexibility.

you're thinking of ruskie. she's the russian girl who went to tennessee for undergrad and is prudish but still loves black dick. after a stint in london biglaw she lives in central florida working immigration law.

julia = arab + colombian girl most famous for saying "i only thought i was eligible for voluptuous vixens" (a video of her trying out for playboy exists and has been seen by many old school poasters.) now she works in some middle management role after t-bird mba and produces spam blogs on the side.
